The first weekend of Qualifying for the Shadow’s Trophy 2024 Tournament immediately brought a lot of surprises!
Before the event begins, it is very difficult to determine the true potential of any aircraft. Therefore, with the appearance of real aces on the tracks, the table of current results began to sparkle with bright colors!
In Group “A”, the overall leadership was expectedly taken by pilots flying the F-16C, among whom they showed confidently stable results Ricky_DCS and 정은아빠 from South Korea, as well as the US representative — Krupinski (01:37.11 sec.).
A pilot from the United States has already participated in VPC Tournaments several times Shadow’s Trophy on helicopters and took prizes, and now shows excellent times on jet planes.
Shocking Krupinski results became after transferring from the F-16C to the MiG-29S, on which he quickly equaled and then improved the record time of group “A”, currently breaking away from Ricky_DCS at 3.26 sec.
In Group “B” there are no surprises so far. The mono class on the AH-64D once again confirms the skills of last year's winner on this helicopter — the Korean pilot vCVW-K 8KIDD8 (01:15.78 sec.).
Very close to him (+0.94 sec.) is his pursuer from Poland - [PVOF] Fenris_Yeager. The representative of the Republic of Poland – grz0rz (+4.2 sec.) closes the top three.
Other regular participants of VIRPIL Controls events also joined the fight. Among the familiar names, fans may recognize gelbevierzehn (Germany), Maniac 1-1 | Blindflug (Germany), and Lexik "ROBOT" Dark (Norway).
Group “C” is also marked by a strong South Korean presence!
정은아빠 — Shadow’s Trophy 2023 UH-1H winner takes second place on the F/A-18C (+2.11 sec.). It is followed with a slight lag by representatives of squad VMFA173: 79FOX9 (F/A-18C; +4.02 sec.) and 75SC (M-2000C; +7.18 sec.).
And the leader of the group, confirming his skills with the best result at the moment, is a friend from group “A” — Krupinski on the M-2000C with a time of 01:38.88 sec!
An additional intrigue is the possibility of participating in the Finals of the Tournament in only one group at the pilot’s choice. Therefore, in which group Krupinski will leave the first line vacant, we will find out after the end of Qualification on December 8th, 2024!
The Tournament bracket is completed by Group “D”, in which pilots on the Ka-50 are fighting!
The leader in this group is another winner from last year — Spanish pilot Wity (01:05.76). In 0.97 sec. behind is the representative of the Republic of Belarus - Board_046 (01:06.73; +7.18 sec.).
Russian pilot ZigZag closes the top three with time 01:16.52, however, his lag is +10.76 seconds. This gives several pursuers breathing down on his neck with a lag of a couple of seconds a chance to rise in the rankings!
