The VIRPIL Controls BFM CUP will be held using the following rules:

The tournament follows a structured cup-style format consisting of three competitive stages:
- Qualification Stage – All registered players compete to secure a spot in the next phase.
- Group Stage – Qualified players are divided into groups, where they battle for advancement.
- Single Elimination Stage – The top performers progress to knockout rounds, culminating in a Final match and a match for 3rd place.
Each stage will feature its own event or multiple events, with players advancing based on their performance. The journey from qualification to elimination ensures only the best pilots rise to the top.

The VIRPIL Controls BFM CUP is a duel-based tournament where pilots engage in intense 1v1 air combat. Participants will compete through three competitive stages: Qualification, Group Stage, and Elimination Stage, each designed to test their BFM skills in DCS World. Matches will be conducted under regulations that ensure a fair and highly competitive environment.

If you encounter difficulties during account creation, please refer to the Getting Started Guide for assistance.
Additionally, ensure that your account is connected to DCS World and that you sign up using an owned and installed aircraft module.
All tournament events' participants must arrive before the designated arrival deadline of the specific event to ensure smooth event execution.
To be officially marked as arrived, players must:

Failure to check in on time will result in the following consequences:
- In the Qualification Stage, all matches will be canceled for the absent player.
- In the Group and Knockout Stages, unplayed matches will be counted as technical losses.
This ensures fairness and prevents unnecessary delays.
During the event, type /duel or /d to initiate a duel against other participants. Only registered pilots are allowed to duel during the tournament. Other players can watch the event as spectators.

Qualification Stage
All registered pilots will participate in the Qualification Stage. Depending on the number of sign-ups, one or two qualification events may be held, with one or multiple duels per match.
Players will be grouped and will compete in a round-robin format, where each pilot will face every other player in their group.
Scoring System:
- 3 points for a match win
- 1 point for a draw
- 0 points for a loss
Tie-Break Rules
If players have the same number of points at the end of the qualification stage, the following criteria will determine who advances:
- Duel Win/Loss Difference – The player with a higher duel victory-to-loss ratio will proceed.
- Head-to-Head Matchup – If the duel win/loss difference is even, the result of the personal match between tied players will be considered.
- ELO Rating – If the personal match was a draw, the player with the higher ELO rating will advance.
Based on total registrations, 16, 32, 48, 56 or 64 players will be eligible to advance to the Group Stage.
Once the Qualification Stage concludes, all qualified players will receive an official invitation to participate in the Group Stage.
If a player declines their invitation, the next highest-ranked player will be invited to take their place, ensuring fair progression and competitive balance.
Group Stage
Once all players confirm their invitations, they will be seeded into groups of seven for the Group Stage. During this phase, players will compete exclusively against opponents within their respective groups, engaging in a total of FOUR duels per player.
The scoring system and tie-break rules will remain the same as in the Qualification Stage, ensuring fair progression based on performance.
At the end of the Group Stage, the TOP FOUR players from each group will advance to the Elimination Stage, where they will face off in high-stakes knockout matches.
Knockout Stage
The Knockout Stage will follow a single-elimination format, where losing players are eliminated from the tournament. An additional match will be held to determine the 3rd place.
Each elimination stage match will be divided into rounds, with the following duel structure:
- Best of 3 – Early elimination rounds
- Best of 5 – Semi-finals
- Best of 7 – Finals
- Best of 3 – 3rd place match
If a duel ends in a draw, it will be replayed, ensuring no ties occur during the elimination phase.

The Qualification Stage will be split into two events, each lasting approximately two hours:
- First half of qualification rounds: 24.05.2025 at 16:00 UTC,
- Second half of qualification rounds: 25.05.2025 at 16:00 UTC,
Group Stage - 26.05.2025 - 31.05.2025
When groups are seeded after the qualification the orgonizers of the event will contact pilots to determine the exact date and time when matches of a specific group will take place.

- The battle starts upon the Fight command in the chat.
- Once the latter command appears, players join the flight by spawning in their slots.
- Duel lasts as long as both planes hold up in the air.
- Along with an opponent downed, victory assignment requires the plane to be able to fly for at least 10 seconds after the other plane met the ground.
- In case if both planes go down the match end in a draw.

- Head-on shooting before the merge
- Exceed the flight direction ±45° from a line connecting two planes before the merge
- Disconnect or leaving the slot in the fight

- Using any game modifications to gain an unfair advantage is not allowed.
- Taking advantage of any bugs or glitches in the game to gain an edge over other players is forbidden.

- Removing AC circuit breakers or dumping fuel is considered unsportsmanlike behavior. Such actions can be appealed to the tournament organizers, who will review the appeal and may impose sanctions if deemed necessary.

The tournament organizers reserve the right to make necessary adjustments to ensure smooth tournament execution. These adjustments may include:
- Changes to the tournament schedule
- Modifications to the number of groups in different stages (must be finalized before the stages begin)
- Adjustments to the number of duels per match (must be decided before the stages commence)
However, any such decisions must not violate the principle of equal conditions for all participants. They will be publicly explained and announced in advance as soon as possible to maintain transparency.
